Prince and Princess Alexandre of Belgium Mutual Aid Fund

Every two years, the Relief Fund organizes the Prince Alexandre Literary Prize, dedicated to a different theme each time.

The Prince Alexandre Prize is chaired by Vicomte de Duve.

Goals and Activities of the “Prince and Princess Alexandre of Belgium Relief Fund”

The Prince and Princess Alexandre of Belgium Relief Fund is a foundation committed to supporting people made vulnerable by life circumstances or illness. Families and disadvantaged children, the sick, the disabled, or those in need can find help and support through the Fund. Priority is given to those closest to us.

The Fund provides aid to individuals, organizations, or sometimes lesser-known initiatives that face challenges alone.

For many years, the Prince and Princess Alexandre of Belgium have personally supported causes close to their hearts, discreetly. The Relief Fund aims to make their support transparent and operates on the basis of submitted applications, without discrimination, across all of Belgium.

Key features of the Relief Fund:

  • Direct action on the ground
  • Transparency – collected funds are immediately allocated to the supported projects
  • Volunteering – the foundation runs its activities with minimal operating costs, thanks to volunteer participation
  • National focus – the Fund supports projects exclusively in Belgium, distributing funds across the country’s regions
  • Respect for the beneficiaries

Chaired by Prince Alexandre, the Relief Fund benefits from Princess Léa’s active involvement on the ground and her personal engagement in all projects. Throughout the year, fundraising events take place in Brussels, Flanders, Wallonia, and the German-speaking Community. All funds raised are fully used to support the chosen projects.

On December 1, 2014, the Order of Saint Gabriel joined forces with the Prince and Princess Alexandre of Belgium Foundation to support the exceptional work carried out over many years for those made vulnerable by illness and life’s challenges.

“We live in a world of solitude, where solidarity and human contact are more important than ever. The Relief Fund aims to be a warm and helping hand for all those whom life challenges.”
