Operation “Save a Child’s Heart”
The Order of Saint Gabriel, during its charity dinner on 09/09/2017 at Bocuse, bringing together 250 people, managed thanks to the generosity of the companies and individuals present to raise €48,000 in donations, which will be entirely contributed by the International Association of Hospitaller Works of Saint Gabriel for the benefit of the operation “Saving a Child’s Heart”. This generosity will allow us to save the lives of 4 children with the participation of MCC medical teams. These children mainly come from the African continent. We present to you the first two children who will benefit from your support. We thank you wholeheartedly. She suffers from Tetralogy of Fallot (T4): an abnormal communication between the two ventricles associated with a narrowing of the pulmonary artery, causing cyanosis (blue child) and fatigue upon exertion. To correct this malformation, surgery is required. Our Association decided to provide it in May 2018. Hosted by a volunteer foster family in May, she will be operated on a few days after her arrival at Louis Pradel Hospital in Lyon. After a few days at the hospital, she will return to her foster family to continue her recovery. She will be fully recovered and in good health when she reunites with her parents in Côte d’Ivoire a few weeks later. For her return, she will benefit from the support of the Aviation Sans Frontières Association. Chantal BIKORIMANA Was born on March 16, 2013 in Hopmabayi, Burundi. She suffers from a ventricular septal defect (VSD): abnormal communication between the two ventricles causing shortness of breath and fatigue on exertion. To correct this malformation, surgery is necessary. Our Association decided to provide it in April 2018.
